Kobe & Gianna Bryant's Public Memorial Service Plans Unveiled Today

The plans for Kobe and Gianna Bryant's upcoming public memorial service will reportedly be announced today (February 14).

According to TMZ, event organizers have been working closely with the Bryant family to finalize who will speak and who will be performing at the service, which will be held on February 24 at Los Angeles' Staples Center and is set to be televised live on multiple networks.

Tickets will reportedly be "available to the general public, although there will be a number of invited guests who get tickets first, including family, friends, players, NBA officials and, we're told, season ticket holders," TMZ reports. Sources told the outlet, "the seats that remain will be sold to the public at a price that reflects the memories of Kobe and Gigi."

One of the options reportedly being discussed is to sell the upper bowl seats at $24.02 — 24 representing Kobe's jersey number and 2 representing Gigi's — with the net proceeds going to a charity selected by the family.

On Thursday (February 13), Vanessa Bryant announced that her late husband's charity will have a new name to honor their 13-year-old daughter, who passed away alongside her father and seven others in a tragic helicopter crash last month.

"Because there is no #24 without #2, we have updated the Mamba Sports Foundation to now be called the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation," Vanessa captioned an Instagram photo of the charity's new logo. "Our mission remains the same – and stronger than ever – to provide opportunities to young people through sports. Thank you all for the outpouring of support and your kind donations to date as we carry forth Kobe and Gigi’s legacy. We hope to empower young athletes in a world they left us all to help shape. #Mamba #Mambacita."

News of the charity's renaming comes days after it was reported that Kobe and Gigi had been laid to rest in a private family service at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, California, on Friday (February 7).
